Torrent description

The impact of digital technology and, in particular,

the transformative capabilities of the Internet have

profoundly affected the capacity of legal systems to

identify and protect intellectual property rights (IPR).

Intellectual Property Rights in the Digital Economy

focuses on the vulnerability of copyright in the digital

environment, explores arguments advanced for new

IPR protective measures, and notes serious concerns

regarding Canadian IPR practice.

This report was prepared for The Conference Board of

Canada’s Intellectual Property Conference: A Catalyst

for Innovation. It is part of a suite of reports by The

Conference Board of Canada that look at the role of

intellectual property rights in achieving global competitiveness

(National Innovation Performance and

Intellectual Property Rights) and the role of intellectual

property in encouraging economic growth (Creating

Value and Stimulating Investment), and that highlight

the issues created by technology and its impact on the

protection of intellectual property rights (Intellectual

Property Rights in the Digital Economy).
