Inhalt :
Als ein mysteriöser Unfall in der absoluten Stille des Alls die
Arbeit des Astronauten Spencer Armacost (Johnny Depp) an einem
Kommunikaitonssatelliten abbricht, kommt er nur knapp mit dem
Leben davon. Wieder auf sicherem Erdboden und als amerikanischer
Held gefeiert, beschließt er, die NASA zu verlassen und mit seiner
Frau Jullian nach New York zu ziehen. Schon vorher beginnen
merkwürdige Zwischfälle das Leben des Paares zu überschatten. Ein
weiterer Überlebender der Shuttle Mission erleidet einen Hirnschlag,
dessen Frau begeht Selbstmord. Unübersehbar auch, daß sich Spencers
Charakter verändert, als ob seine Seele von einem Schwarzen Loch
verschluckt worden ist - und als schließlich der entlassene NASA-Mann
Norman Reese (Joe Morton) den schrecklichen Verdacht aufwirft, daß
Spencers Körper im Orbit von einer fremden, feindseligen Macht
ergriffen wurde, beginnen Alpträume Realität zu werden...
