Dopo la morte del padre, la piccola Maria Merryweather, é costretta ad abbandonare la vita agiata di Londra e trasferirsi nei territori di Moonacre insieme alla sua tata. Sarà ospite di un lontano parente, del quale ignorava persino l'esistenza. La casa é l'antica dimora della sua famiglia e come tutte le vecchie case é ricca di storie e di segreti... Scoprirà, infatti, di essere l'ultima principessa della Luna e che sulle sue spalle pesa la responsabilità di riparare agli errori dei suoi antenati, altrimenti il regno di Moonacre sprofonderà nell'oceano...
