Torrent description

Using unique multimedia technology, Corbis brings new accessibility to the mind and genius of the original "Renaissance man." Inspired by the Codex Leicester, which was created around 1508, the "Leonardo da Vinci" CD-ROM focuses on nature and science and their relationship to art. Starting with Leonardo da Vinci's seldom-seen personal notebook and journal, the Codex Leicester, the CD-ROM explores Leonardo's thoughts and how he saw the world, as well as his ideas and inventions.

Through the use of the Codescope(TM), a unique viewing and translation tool designed by Corbis specifically for this product, users are able to translate the Codex into Italian or English easily as they explore the original pages of the journal. This viewing opportunity is virtually impossible in any other medium. The experience is further enhanced with guided tours hosted by leading scholars on Leonardo and the Italian Renaissance. Another unique feature in the title is a virtual eight-room Gallery space, re-created from one of Leonardo's drawings. The Gallery contains more than 100 of his works, never before assembled in one place, and includes all of his known paintings. Here, users can also review personal correspondence from Leonardo to his friends, patrons and associates, and contracts with various groups for his commissions.

Interactive exhibits allow users to experiment with the concepts and ideas behind his theories on astronomy, geology and the movement of water. In this section, users can imagine themselves alongside Leonardo as he made discoveries and developed his theories.
