The Eurovision Song Contest 1985 was the 30th Eurovision Song Contest and was held on May 4, 1985 in Gothenburg, Sweden. The presenter was Lill Lindfors; who became famous for her "wardrobe malfunction", where her skirt came off after passing through a part of the set. After her acted embarrassment, she shrug her shoulders and pulled a long white dress out of the top she was wearing, remarking immediately afterward, "I just wanted you to wake up a little." In later interviews, Miss Lindfors admitted that the stunt was planned, but not performed during rehearsals.

During the contest, just after the incident happened, Terry Wogan (the BBC's long-time commentator) uttered "They've got a knockabout sense of humour, the Swedes, haven't they?"

The Netherlands and Yugoslavia did not participate in this Contest, due to the Remembrance of the Dead national holiday in the Netherlands, and the anniversary of the death of Josip Broz Tito in Yugoslavia. Commentary as you'd expect with Sir Terry Wogan who interestingly was too ill to attend the contest in Sweden and instead provided commentary from London....
