Where: CiTV

When: 12:15 pm - 12:30 pm GMT, 10 March 2009

About the show:

From the Wikipedia entry (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bookaboo):

"In 2008 ITV announced their commission of a part live-action and part animated series to promote child and adult literacy in the UK, in support of the National Year of Reading 2008. Bookaboo was commissioned by Emma Tennant, Controller of CITV and ITV3. The series, created and produced by Lucy Goodman will be directed by Lucy Goodman and Ian Emes for Happy Films. Tennant also acts as the executive producer for ITV.

The 13 part CITV series launched on Monday 2 March 2009 on the CITV Channel and will be broadcast every day at 12:15, 15:20 and 17:50. The central character is a drum playing rock puppy called Bookaboo, who is inspired by picture books, so much so says "I just can't play without a story a day!".

In each 11 minute episode, one of bookaboo's celebrity fans goes back stage to the rock puppy's tour bus, the 'bookabus', to see if they can tempt him back to stage by sharing a picture book with him.

In January 2009 ITV announced the list of celebrities who will be sharing a story with bookaboo; the list includes American rock singer Meat Loaf, British actress Amanda Holden, footballer David Seaman, and former Spice Girl Mel C, comedians Al Murray and Julian Clary among others.

Alongside the series there will an online Bookaboo Book Club, live events and in store promotions."

From CiTV (see http://www.citv.co.uk/page.asp?partid=583):

"Bookaboo’s a world famous rock puppy who plays the drums in his own rock band. Each programme sees him at a different venue ready to play a concert – but there’s a problem… he needs to hear a story before he can play!

“A story a day or I just can’t play!”

Bookaboo loves the pleasure of sharing picture books, and in each programme a famous face goes back stage to share a story. Those dropping by in the first series include Amanda Holden, Meatload, Al Murray and former Spice Girl Mel C!

Once he’s has a story, Bookaboo takes to the stage and, cheered on by his celebrity guest, wows the world with the best canine drum solo ever heard!"

Episode Description:

07 - A Mummy For Owen (Fern Britton)

Fern Britton gives Bookaboo an early wakeup call when she arrives to interview the famous rock puppy - only to find he's lost his bojo! Luckily Fern knows just what to do. The Bookabag magically appears with a copy of 'A Mummy for Owen' (by Marian Dane Bauer, illustrated by John Butler). Will Bookaboo make it on stage?
