Through sunshine and rain, Julia explores the stunning landscape that inspired the late Alfred Wainwright to produce his beautifully crafted guide books.
Series 2 Episode 1 - Helvellyn
Nobody can call themselves a true fellwalker until England's most popular mountain has been conquered. Julia Bradbury sets off to reach the summit of Helvellyn via the Lake District's most talked about ridge - Striding Edge. And just like legendary fell-walker Alfred Wainwright, Julia discovers herself reaching the Edge for the very first time, just as the cloud and the rain descend.
Series 2 Episode 2 - Catbells
Julia Bradbury visits Catbells at Derwent Water near the Lakeland town of Keswick by boat and by foot, and discovers the secrets of a classic fell-climb, suitable for the whole family, and discovers the history of the fell where miners dug for minerals more valuable than gold.
Series 2 Episode 3 - Crinkle Crags and Bowfell
Julia Bradbury aims to find her way along the very best ridge-mile in Lakeland, reaching the summits of Crinkle Crags and Bowfell, two of the biggest peaks in the area.
Series 2 Episode 4 - Helm Crag
Julia is in the village of Grasmere for a climb up Helm Crag, defined by the collection of rock formations at its summit - a feature that has lent it the nickname of the Lion and the Lamb. The rocks make for a summit scramble for Julia as she finds out why this was the only summit Wainwright never reached.
Series 2 Episode 5 - High Street
Julia Bradbury visits the 2,500ft summit of the best-trodden path over the fells, used 2,000 years ago by the marching Roman legions and she moves onto the mysterious valley of Mardale where the local village was lost when the land was flooded to create Haweswater reservoir.
Series 2 Episode 6 - Pillar
In the last programme of the series, Julia Bradbury starts in the remote valley of Ennerdale. Climbing more than walking, the path takes her across one of his favourite fells and into the mountainous landscape, before she climbs to the Lake District's most famous crag, Pillar Rock.
