Sehr rasant, actiongeladen und vor allem humorvoll kämpfen hier einer für alle und alle für einen. Sicher ist die Umsetzung des Romans von Alexandre Dumas hier sehr freizügig erfolgt, aber dies tut dem Vergnügen keinen Abbruch. Die von Walt Disney produizierte Verfilmung bietet allerbeste Unterhaltung mit einer Besetzung die seinesgleichen sucht. Regisseuer Herek besetzte sein Mantel und Degen Spektakel unter anderem mit Stars wie Charlie Sheen (Platoon), Kiefer Sutherland (Lost Boys), Oliver Platt (Die Jury), Chris ODonnell (Batman & Robin), Tim Curry (Es), Rebecca De Mornay (Die Hand an der Wiege) oder auch July Delphy (American Werewolf in Paris).
