Egypt Central (briefly called Lotus Effect) is a five-piece rock music group from Memphis, Tennessee.
Egypt Central was formed in 2001 by vocalist John Falls (This group was called like this because they live near a street named Egypt Central not that singer John Falls was born in Egypt). After generating buzz in their hometown of Memphis, the band caught the attention of former Lava Records CEO Jason Flom. Impressed with their demo, he immediately offered the band a record deal after seeing their live performance. Their debut album was recorded with renowned producer Josh Abraham in Los Angeles. The band was dropped by Lava in April, 2005, and due to a shakeup within the company the album was never released.
