Im fernen Tal des Friedens in China träumt der rundliche Panda Po [Jack Black] davon der sagenumwobene Drachenkrieger zu werden, aber sobald er aufwacht serviert er wieder Nudeln im Geschäft seines Vaters Ping [James Hong].
Als Kung Fu Meister Zeng [Dan Fogler] die Vision hat, dass der brutale Krieger Tai Lung [Ian McShane] aus seinem Gefängnis ausbrechen wird, beschließt er den Drachenkrieger zu erwählen. Versehentlich stolpert Po in das Auswahlverfahren und wird prompt von Meister Zeng erwählt. Ausbilder Shifu [Dustin Hoffman] und seine 5 Schüler des Jade Tempels Tiger, Gottesanbeter, Affe, Schlange und Krahnich [Angelina Jolie, Seth Rogen, Chackie Chan, Lucy Liu und David Cross] sind alles andere als begeistert.
