Poppy arbeitet als Grundschullehrerin im Norden Londons und ist das, was man eine wahre Frohnatur nennt: stets gut gelaunt, offenherzig, hilfsbereit. Kurzum: Poppy muss man einfach gern haben. Mit der großen Liebe hat es allerdings noch nicht so recht geklappt - ist aber auch halb so wild. Schließlich hat Poppy ja ihre Mitbewohnerin Zoe, ihre Schwester Suzy und ihre besten Freundinnen, mit denen sie um die Häuser ziehen kann. Poppys unbeschwerte Art löst in ihrer oft etwas missgelaunten Umwelt allerdings auch Befremden und Erstaunen aus. Manche halten sie für ein wenig schlicht, einige sogar für verrückt. Auf jeden Fall aber führt Poppys Dauerflirt mit dem Leben zu den absurdesten Situationen, deren Komik nicht selten in anarchischer Auflösung gipfelt.
