Torrent description

This CD is the first recording of the four Italian cantatas by Joseph Martin Kraus, settings of anacreontic cantata poems by Pietro Metastasio (1698-1782). They are real masterpieces and should by no means shy from comparison with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The fact that they have never been recorded before and are also rarely heard in concerts is due to the infernal difficulty of the soprano parts, which Kraus probably composed primarily for the exceptional singer Lovisa (Sofia) Augusti (1756-1790)
