Plot:
In einer nicht allzu fernen Zukunft herrscht in Europa das blanke Chaos, Anarchie, religiöser Wahn und Terrorismus sind gang und gäbe. Die Perspektive ist dementsprechend düster für den Söldner Toorop (Vin Diesel), der in Kasachstan am Rande der Existenz vor sich hin lebt. Sein Ziel ist die Rückkehr in die Vereinigten Staaten und eines Tages bietet sich ihm die Chance: im Auftrag der Verbrechergröße Gorsky (Gerard Depardieu) soll ein junges Mädchen aus einem Kloster in Osteuropa bis in die USA schleusen. Die naive, etwas seltsame Aurora (Melanie Thierry) scheint kein großes Problem zu sein und auch ihre Begleiterin, Schwester Rebecca (Michelle Yeoh) kann Toorop akzeptieren. Doch der Weg ist weit und gefährlich und schon bald mehren sich Anzeichen, daß eine Sekte ein ganz bestimmtes Interesse an Aurora - und das Mädchen selbst scheint auch einige Fähigkeiten zu besitzen, die nicht unbedingt alltäglich sind. Während sie sich mühsam in den Norden Richtung Kanada durchkämpfen, muß sich Toorop langsam aber sicher fragen, wen genau er da eigentlich begleitet...
