Difficile, très difficile de développer le quatrième volet d'une série aussi connue et appréciée que celle des Civilization. En effet, les attentes des amateurs sont énormes, et le jeu se doit d'être meilleur que ses illustres aînés qui squattent quand même les disques durs de nombre de joueurs depuis le début des années 1990, date de la sortie du premier opus sur PC.

Second add-on du quatrième volet de Civilization, Beyond the Sword permet de franchir les limites terrestres pour conquérir la galaxie. Bref, le futur est à l'honneur dans cette extension qui nous propose aussi de contrôler des robots et de rechercher toute une panoplie de technologies avancées.
