If you enjoy the commercially produced comic scans of other Marvel titles


distributed on DVD, you will want to grab this torrent.  In late 2007, Marvel


opted NOT to permit the Thor collection to be published on DVD, even though it


had been promised.  Many comics fans were sorely disappointed by the news.


This torrent is an attempt to palliate that disappointment and to treat the


Lee/Kirby Thor books to the quality digital preservation they deserve.  More


about the restorations, below.

Here is Stan Lee and Jack Kirby's classic run on The Mighty Thor, from Journey


Into Mystery 83 through Thor 179, plus Journey Into Mystery Annual #1 through


Thor Annual #4.  This seminal run of the Thor strip has publication dates from


August 1962, thru August 1970, an 8 year run of some 97 issues plus 4 annuals,


101 books in all.  These stories, nearly all penciled by Jack "King" Kirby,


rank among the artist's finest work, especially the "Tales of Asgard" backup


stories, and those mind-boggling cosmic adventures that began shortly after


the book's title changed from "Journey Into Mystery" to "Thor", i.e. after


issue 125.





Writer, Stan Lee and artist, Jack Kirby hardly need an introduction.  These


are the creators, who in the early 60's launched a plethora of extremely


popular comic book characters under the Marvel banner.  Not least of these was


the noble prince of the golden realm of Asgard, the Norse god of thunder, the


mighty Thor.  After Thor's introduction, the character quickly established his


popularity and eventually took his place as an icon of American popular


culture.  The comic books contained in this torrent trace the character from


his introduction and origin, up to the departure of his co-creator, Mr. Kirby,


from the strip in 1970.  Kirby never again took up penciling the son of Odin.

This torrent consists of the best quality


amateur scans of these issues, currently obtainable on line.  All (except


Annuals 3 & 4, which are reprint books) are complete, cover-to-cover,


including all ads and fan pages.  Several of the books were scanned especially


for this torrent.  All, except Thor 178 (no Kirby art) and Annuals 3 & 4 (all


reprint stories), have been expertly and meticulously color edited.  These


scans now compare favorably with the other commercially available Marvel


scans.  Within this torrent (excepting the three books mentioned), the reader


will find no hyper-intense colors, no hot-pink skin tones, and no blurry or


grainy images.  All the scans are nearly the same pixel size and are similar


in color, brightness, and contrast.





File sizes have been optimized for efficient download and storage, while


preserving full image sharpness.  These files are all in the popular .cbz


comic book file format.  They can be read with any of the many comic book


viewers downloadable for free.  A Google search on the key phrase: "comic book


viewer download" will point you to many of them.
