When that middle sized, brunet guy, wearing glasses, approached me at the Congonhas Airport in SP, I initially got scared. He asked me to talk about a dream he’d had days before. In his dream, I had recorded an album with songs by Legiao Urbana with the partnership of people close to the work of the band, and it did very well. He ingenuously asked me why I didn’t call on them and proposed this project. I told him that it was very difficult and I thought maybe it wouldn’t be well accepted, after all, in my mind, it was very complicated, at that time, to budge with things involving the greatest rock band of the 1980s, that prematurely lost its lead singer, as well as the personality and creative intelligence of an artist like Renato Russo, besides having that thing about the known vocal similarity between us. I thanked the kid, turned around and forgot the subject. I didn’t even think that some time later I would be taking part of one of the biggest challenges of my career, along with the producer of Renato’s solo albums and musician of Legiao, Carlos Trilha, as well as guitar player Fred Nacimento, who, with reverence and admiration, introduced meto the rich, interesting and unique world of Legiao Urbana. Also counting on Gian Fabra’s help, also former Legiao, on the translation of Renato’s lyrics to Italian, I’d definitely feel at home with Dado Villa-Lobos and Marcelo Bonf?’s warm and invaluable support to the accomplishment of this project. It was with a spirit of admiration and respect that this CD came to life, whose title is a direct reference, besides an homage, to the war cry commanded over by Renato Russo during the heartfelt shows of Legiao Urbana: FORZA SEMPRE.
