Poppy arbeitet als Grundschullehrerin im Norden Londons und ist das, was man eine wahre Frohnatur nennt: stets gut gelaunt, offenherzig und hilfsbereit.Poppy muss man einfach gern haben. Mit der großen Liebe hat es allerdings noch nicht so richtig geklappt - ist aber auch halb so wild. Schließlich hat Poppy ja ihre Mitbewohnerin Zoe, ihre Schwester Suzy und noch einen ganzen Haufen bester Freundinnen, mit denen sie um die Häuser ziehen kann. Poppys unbeschwerte Art löst in ihrer oft etwas missgelaunten Umwelt allerdings auch Befremden und Erstaunen aus. Manche halten sie für ein wenig schlicht, einige sogar für verrückt. Auf jeden Fall aber führt Poppys Dauerflirt mit dem Leben am laufenden Band zu den absurdesten Situationen. Poppy lässt sich ihre gute Laune nicht verderben, auch nicht von ihrem griesgrämigen Fahrlehrer. Er ist das genaue Gegenteil von ihr, verliebt sich aber in sie.
