Nancy e Robert si incontrano a un convegno. È amore a prima vista e lei decide di andare a vivere da lui. Ma i due non sono proprio giovanissimi e hanno due figli sulla quarantina che vivono ancora a casa con mamma e papà. Brennan, il figlio di Nancy, ora deve trasferirsi e andare a condividere la camera con il ‘fratellastro' Dale che non è per nulla intenzionato ad accoglierlo con il sorriso sulle labbra.
