Anthony Edwards spielte diesen Studenten - Jonathan. Er ist clever, gewitzt und recht sympathisch, aber bei der holden Weiblichkeit ist er nur der Verlierer. Jungfräulich und voller Tatendrang unternimmt er mit seinem besten Kumpel Manolo (Jsu Garcia) einen Trip nach Paris, auf dem er schon bald seine Traumfrau trifft.
Die geheimnisvolle Frau heisst Sasha (Linda Fiorentino), kommt scheinbar aus dem Osten und überredet Jonathan, gemeinsam in die DDR zu reisen - ein Kurierjob soll erledigt werden. Dass diese Reise ein Fehler ist, wird schnell klar. Die Traumfrau ist nicht, wer sie zu sein behauptet, die russische Mafia taucht auf, der CIA mischt mit und irgendwo dazwischen versucht der nicht mehr ganz so jungfräuliche Student zu überleben.
