Un peu d'histoire : WWE Armageddon est un pay per view de la World Wrestling Entertainment et se déroule chaque année au mois de décembre. La première édition de ce show date de 1999, l'origine viendrait d'une promo de The Undertaker lors du SummerSlam 1999: "Ce qui est habituellement connu comme SummerSlam l'est désormais comme Armageddon", et par le fait que la WWE n'avait pas de véritables PPV en décembre. Armageddon a été remplaçé par Vengeance en 2001 suite aux attentats du 11 septembre. Ce fût également un PPV exclusif à la division RAW en 2003, et le premier évènement où le WWE Champion et le WWE World Heavyweight Champion furent sur le même ring en tant que partenaires (2006). De 2004 à 2006, c'était un PPV exclusif à la division SmackDown!.
