Kristin Scott word vals beschuldigt voor de dood van haar vader, vlak voordat hij met pensioen gaat, als Kapitein bij de brandweer.


Samen met het feit dat ze de enige vrouwelijke vuurbestrijder is in haar team, zien de andere team leden het samenwerken niet zitten, waarop ze ontslag neemt.


Om zichzelf te bewijzen, begint ze aan de loodzware training bij de " SmokeJumpers". Dit zijn ruige brandweermannen die vanuit vliegtuigen direct in de vlammen springen.
