Sinopsis: 


Adaptación de la serie de televisión de los años 60 "Superagente 86". Maxwell Smart (Steve Carell) tiene una misión: evitar que la maligna organización conocida como KAOS llegue a dominar el mundo. Cuando la central de la agencia de espías Control norteamericana es atacada, las identidades de sus agentes secretos corren riesgo de ser descubiertas. Al jefe de la agencia (Alan Arkin), no le queda otra opción más que llamar a su siempre listo analista Maxwell Smart. Él siempre soñó con trabajar como espía junto al resuelto agente estrella 23 (Dwayne Johnson). En vez de eso, Smart debe tener como compañera a la amorosa pero letal agente veterana 99 (Anne Hathaway).
