Der Müllzerkleinerungsautomat WALL-E ist der letzte noch funktionstüchtige Roboter auf der menschen- und lebewesenleeren Erde. Die Tagesabläufe von WALL-E sind dabei strukturiert: Mal fährt er durch die verlassene Stadt auf der Suche nach Ersatzteilen, mal schaut er wieder sein Lieblingsvideo "Hello Dolly!" - und mal geht er auch seiner Aufgabe nach, Müll zu pressen. Doch wird der einsame Alltag des kleinen Roboters plötzlich auf den Kopf gestellt, als ein gigantisches Raumschiff landet, aus dem ein fliegender Suchdroid steigt. Schnell versucht WALL-E, die unbekannte Roboterdame namens Eve für sich zu begeistern  und verliebt sich schließlich in sie. Doch Eve hat einen höher gestellten Auftrag, für den sie auf die Erde gekommen ist.
