The Movie starts out with 2 guys being killed (bookies) and the debt logs are taken but we do not see the killers. Next we cut to Mister Good Kat (Bruce Willis) in a wheel chair who wakes a man who is sleeping in staging area in blue chairs. Mr. Good Kat talks about the Kansas City Shuffle 20 years in the making and then starts a story about gambling. All gambling in movies end up bad. This is no different. In 1979 Aqueduct hosted a Fixed horse race and everyone who over heard a little whisper that the fix was in wanted to get a piece of this "sure thing". One person that heard this whisper was a family man betting the farm on this sure thing for his son to have a better chance at a future and funding for "Harvard" so his son could become "a doctor". The father character known as Max tells his son 15 minutes and gives him his watch and goes into the the Aqueduct. Next we cut to a scene with the fixed horse in the lead then right before the finish line the horse falls out dead, Max's gut tightens his throat swells and he can not swallow as he turns and exits the Aqueduct and heads towards the location he left his car parked with his son, Henry inside of it. Tragically the car was not parked in the location Max left it. In a flash Max is strong armed by two men, enforcers of the crime figures that the bookie laid the debt of to, they knew the fix was in and both crime figures were fresh in New York and decided to make an example of Max to show people that you don't get away with cheating in a game with criminals.Max was beaten almost to death by these two criminal figure heads and then was strangulated by duct taping a plastic bag over Max's head while his arms and legs were strapped down. A gambling addict was send to Max's house to "Shotgun Slaughter" his wife. A special Hitman was brought in to kill Henry, Max's son. (because it was such a horrible task that not even the worst scum of all New York was sick enough to carry out this disgusting act) The Scene shows a gun being raised towards the back of the child's head and then we cut back to the blue seated staging area Mr.Goodkat does a little small talk about Charlie Chaplin then pulls a Kansas City Shuffle and snaps the guys neck throws him in the wheelchair and pushes him away (to be continued..within 24hrs)

Slevin Kelevra (Josh Hartnett) está com vários problemas em sua vida. O prédio onde mora foi condenado, sua carteira de identidade foi roubada e ele recentemente flagrou sua namorada na cama com outro homem. O escolhido é Nick Fisher, o que faz com que Goodkat vá até seu apartamento e confunda Slevin com seu alvo.
